Sworn translation

TRANSLATING YOUR OFFICIAL DOCUMENTS

In our profession, there are two types of translation: non-sworn and sworn translation.

You will generally need a sworn translator to translate your official documents (identification, diplomas, birth/marriage/death certificates, company registration certificate, business contracts, variety of certificates, etc.). This involves a translator who has been approved by the authorities to deliver. This involves a translator who has been approved by the authorities to deliver translations that are certified to comply with the original. You should note, however, that a sworn translator is no more qualified or necessarily more experienced than another translator – he or she has simply been approved by the administration.

For this type of translation, and for any official document, more time should be allowed than for non sworn translations, particularly in terms of receiving and sending documents. Actually, sworn translations generally require the originals or compliant certified copies.

For other countries, extra procedures might be necessary (certification, Apostille, legalisation). If these complex administrative procedures are not covered by our services, we can nevertheless get your documents ready to be accepted by the competent authority (particularly the Ministry of Foreign Affairs).
